I chose this for the best action and emotion because of what there doing its very crazy and actiony and they have an intense look on their faces.
 FILLING THE FRAME
I chose this picture for filling the frame because its very well framed and inside the frame is a very nice image and it grabs the eye of the viewer.

I chose the image with the boy solving math problems.
1) I chose it because its a very nice laid out image.
2) In the picture there is balance- his elbow, hand and chin make a triangle. There is rule of thirds. Framing and the avoidance of mergers is also present in the image.

1) The chemistry and biology lab.
2) Mrs. Bilkie (biology teacher)
3) Keep my eye peeled for absurd things as well as use all the rules of photography.

UNUSUAL AND INTERESTING PHOTOS

I think the ideas are kinda cool but overall I wouldn't say I liked the images that much because there just not that good. I totally like new ideas and creative techniques but this one just doesn't really do it for me, I don't find it too appealing. I believe he made these photographs by using multiple exposures and then combining the images together to form one photo. Just a good building in austin for any type of photography is the old city of austin power plant by town lake. I love that building its so awesome and great looking, Id have to jump the fence but it wouldn't be too hard to get inside to take photographs. If you really want to snap a picture you can get into anywhere you want. Also a good photo would be that massive old church downtown I forgot its name but its pretty famous.Im pretty sure its the church they filmed the church scene of machete in. Anywhere in East Austin is fun for photographs as well.

PART 2

I chose this picture because not only is it a very beautiful and informative picture but its also very intriguing and tells a story. It also makes you feel sad and hurt, which I think is great because photographs should make you feel something. This photograph was in third place for photojournalist of the year. The photographer really captured the light and dust coming through the window which is perfect and he stood behind the subject which makes the viewer feel like there watching this sorrowful event unfold before our eyes. Its also nicely balanced! :). I think the subject weighed about 55-65% into the judges mind. The photographer made sure the light came in through the window illuminating the particles of dust and hope in such a dark time, which makes it unique.

PART 3
BEST SUGGESTIONS
1) School of Athens By RAPHAEL- It has tons of different stories going on however they don't seem to distract each others singular story.
2) Pantings of Banksy- While expecting to see a certain thing you are surprised and see something out of the ordinary and it blows your mind!!!!
3) Cambells soup cans by Andy Warhol- Making the ordinary seem extraordinary! Thats what its all about :)

I think this photographer followed the rules of the nighthawk painting very well. He found a moment.
An interaction. A quiet moment with a hook that grabs your attention just like the painting. Street art will probably influence me like street art and stuff that surprises you, stuff outrageous. The odd.

PHOTO MANIPULATION AND ETHICS

Photojournalists should not digitally alter an image for it distorts the facts and reality of what actually happened that day. Yes there is some little editing techniques that are not unethical, like brightening up the image or cleaning it up and balancing it. Photojournalists are still journalists and when they change the image so drastically as to add another missile to the image like in the Iran missile firing image they are changing the facts and feeding the public lies which is totally unethical and unacceptable.

I feel like this is the most unethical because it is a total made up story a story which never happened!!!
I feel like this photo is the least unethical because all that was done was they brightened up the image and took out one of the posts in the back. Yes you should never really alter your photo but its not like a major change to the subject or the news.

POST SHOOT REFLECTION

Which photograph to pick was the hardest for me, I had a hard time picking the right ones out of the many pictures I took. I thought about how to frame the picture the best way the most. Id look through and try to make sure there wasn't anything poking itself into the image. Id look more for trying to use the different rules like simplicity, rule of thirds, lines, ect. If I had to keep one thing the same it would be to just keep the imagination and the passion and excitement the same. Just keep looking for unique and eye pleasing images. Id love to shoot new prompts again and just leave these the way they are. That way you can just keep using new ideas and finding new great marvels and excitingly beautiful subjects.

NOTE
The rules of composition are on the photographs I took of the four prompts.

I really like the trash can photo for bowie its a good photo. I like how in all of her photographs she's shooting really close and tight together which is kinda cool and interesting because I always like shooting wide. Something she could improve on is to think outside the box a little more because some of the pictures are kinda unoriginal and because of that they can be a little boring.

THE FALLING MAN

After reading the falling man article, you get to see how many different people feel about the incident. Some people deny there being "jumpers" as the new york medical examiners office wants to say they were acting brave and were not committing mass suicide. He wants to deny the facts that such a horrific event could ever happen so close to home. Sometimes, I guess its best to turn your head away from the darkness of devastation. But still, people must confront the facts and recognize the truths of the horrors that occurred that day, without doing so, in my opinion is a disregard and lack of respect for those who did jump from the towers. Without acknowledging their struggles and death we cannot learn and truly explore the truths of whats happening.
I dont know if I answered your question but this is the impact the article had on me.

AVOIDING MERGERS

I chose this photograph for avoiding mergers because its got a clean nice background where nothing pokes itself into the picture. Just the beautiful skyline.

FRAMING

I chose this photograph for framing because the walls on either side of this picture frame the main subject ( walking man),giving it a clear and balanced image.

BALANCE

I chose this picture for balance because of the triangle these ladies heads form. Geometrical shapes are great for balance they make the photo more aesthetically pleasing and well, give it great balance!

LINES

I chose this photograph for lines because of the crane that forms a diagonal line. It leads you straight to the action of the photo with the firemen spraying the burning rubble.

RULE OF THIRDS

I chose this picture for rule of thirds because the subject (the burning tower) is lined up on the right of the photographers point of thirds. In other words, if you were to divide this picture into thirds then the right third would contain the flaming tower which is the rule of thirds, to put the subject on one of the thirds points.

SIMPLICITY

I chose this image for simplicity because of the background. Its a very clean non distracting background  which allows you to really focus on the subject of the image, the burning tower.

NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC

This is my favorite photograph because of its great use of black and white its so beautiful. The water is so amazing and I love the way it wraps itself around the boy. Another great aspect of this photograph is the background I love the people walking on the bridge they look like shadows, very interesting. But truth be told every photograph on the National Geographic page should be on here, there all amazing and just fantastic its impossible to choose the best. I would take a photograph in downtown Austin. I love the chaos there and the clashing of people. Weirdness collides with the working class and everything comes together in a beautiful mess.

TOUCHING PEOPLE

1) I think this is a great concept and idea. It catches your eye and you can sense the awkwardness.
2) I would most definitely say yes! id be very excited :)
3) I would have midgets look angry at the camera and stand next to tall men smiling.
4) I think the photos are just fine, I mean there not great because this project is more about the idea and concept but the photos are fine there kinda just simplistic.

POWERFUL PICTURES

I chose this picture because I think its just perfect. I love how the quality of the picture is all gritty because it mirrors the mood of the picture. In the picture a man has just been shot and the Navy chaplain is giving the wounded solider his last rights. You can see the turmoil and chaos present in the picture.  The quality of the picture goes right along with the mood of this image and thats why I love it so much. I think this picture made the cut of the 40 most powerful pictures because everything just works in this picture. There is no error in this photograph, even the mistakes look great. A mans last moments on earth and the chaos of it all, its a very powerful picture.
Photograph by: Hector Rondon Lovera
I chose this picture because its so powerful. The death of an elderly man waiting for a train in China is a terrible event, but in the darkness and sorrow comes magic and love as a monk prays for the recently passed man. The photographer set up the picture just perfect I wouldn't change anything, its very intriguing and powerful. I believe this picture made the top 40 cut because its just an all around good picture. It makes you feel something! Its a beautiful picture expressing a fascinating subject.
Photograph by: Asian news-Reuters
I chose this picture because I love the opposite characters exposed in this image. A couple making out and a police officer yielding a riot shield during rioting in Vancouver, British Columbia. It looks unreal almost and it really grabs your eye. I also like how the photographer set up the shot by focusing on the couple because their farther away then the police officer allowing us to see both characters in the photograph equally. I think this photograph made the top 40 cut because its so hectic and powerful and it portrays such poler opposites as well as the strength of love.

Great Black and White Photographers Part ll

                                               ROBERT DOISNEAU BIOGRAPHY

Robert Doisneau is one of the pioneering leaders of photojournalism. His most famous work is his picture A kiss by the town hall, in which a couple is kissing in the busy streets of paris. Doisneau is known for his playful, ironic, mix up of social classes and eccentricity in contemporary Paris streets and cafes.  Robert Doisneau was born in Gentilly in the Val-de-Marne, France.  He studied engraving in college but found it useless once graduated. He first learned photography in the advertising department of a pharmaceutical firm.  In 1932 he sold his first photo-story to the Excelsior newspaper. He was a camera assistant to the sculptor Andrei Vigneaux and did military service before he took up the job of an industrial and advertising photographer for the Renault auto factory at Billancourt in 1934. He was then fired in 1939, and so he took up freelance advertising and postcard photography to make a living. He also worked for the Rapho photo agency for several months until he was drafted to war in 1939. He was a member of the resistance. After the war he returned home and became a freelance photographer for Life and other big international magazines. Robert Doisneau won the Prix Kodak in 1947 as well as the Prix Niepce in 1956. He died in 1994 in Paris the place he lived throughout his life, and is buried in the cemetery Raizeux by his wife, Pierrette.

The Camera Questions

1) You create a tiny hole in a very dark room, light is focused in the hole and you see the outside scene upside down.
2) When Isaac Newton and Christian Huygens understood optics and glass lenses and how to make them.
3) He added Film! :) His camera was made up of a glass lens, a dark box, and film.
4)  Light still passes through the lens coming into the camera and exposing the film inside.
5) They use an electronic sensor called CCD.
6) On Auto the camera completely does all the work for you, it even controls flash and exposure. On Program mode Camera controls most of the settings like in auto but in program you can control flash and other camera settings.
7) Camera uses fastest available lens setting (aperture) which blurs out the background, allowing you to really focus on the details of your subject.
8) Its used to freeze things that are moving really fast. Its not just for sports, if an angry cheetah was chasing you down you would switch to sports mode to really make the best shot for such an amazing event. Your camera uses the highest shutter speed in sports mode.
9) It allows the camera operator to freeze the focus point and really examine the scene before actually taking the final picture.
10) It means no flash. The flash is disabled. You would use this if you just wanted natural light.
11) Auto flash. Its used if the camera doesn't think there is enough light in the picture.
12) The picture will be washed out, Blindingly annoying.
13) The picture is too dark and you cant really make out anything to pretty.
14) Change in the brightness of light.
15) It would be one stop brighter!!!! laaaalaaaaalaaa
16) It would be two stops brighter.
17) The longer shutter speed the more light.
18) The lesser shutter speed the darker it becomes because less light is allowed in.
19) The amount of light that is allowed in.
YAY! Only one more question!!!!!!!!!
20) Small opening less light in. Large opening more light in! Making it brighter.

Best and Worst Pictures

This is my good picture, although its not that good I like it because its a clean crisp picture. I held the camera straight and still to give it its clean and smooth picture.
This is my bad picture. I tried to be clever and shoot it with a dutch angle but it didn't work. I had to work quickly and my pictures lost there creativity. This picture is awful it looks like a monkey was operating the camera.
